I will be gone this week (July 24-31st) for a week of vacation with my twin brother, Fr. Gary. We will be visiting a good friend out in Washington (the state) from our college seminary days. Our friend discerned he wasn’t called to be a priest and is now happily married with five children. Last time we visited we helped make bunk beds—we will see what projects this visit brings. As always it will be a fun adventure!
I want to remind everyone again about the Mass this coming Thursday for Sr. Francis de Sales Czeiszperger. It will be at 9:30 am at a Mass held at Christ the King Parish in Ann Arbor (4000 Ave Maria Dr., Ann Arbor, Michigan 48105). She, along with seven other sisters, will be making her first profession. Information for signing up for the Mass can be found online. I am so disappointed I will be not be able to attend the Mass myself. My brother and I had made our vacation plans before I knew. I have attended these Masses in the past and they are so beautiful.
We have two fun events coming up at the end of the first week in August. The first will be the parish picnic on Friday, August 4th from 5-7pm hosted at St. Mary on the Lake. The Knights of Columbus will be manning the grill to cook hot dogs so families can have dinner provided. There will be an assortment of games and activities. I, along with the seminarians, will be manning the Dunk Tank. I don’t know if Fr. Ginu has yet had that pleasure, but maybe we can have him make a guest appearance! This is so good for both of our parish communities to come together.
The next day on August 5th we will have our second annual Youth Hike and Mass at Lost Nation State Game area in Pittsford. It will be roughly a 2-mile hike, one mile in and one mile back. We will be hiking to Sile Doty’s cave where we will celebrate Mass and then take time to explore the cave and have some games before our hike back. Sr. Francis de Sales will be home for a visit and will join us for the hike and Mass. This will be great opportunity to ask a sister about what life is like in a religious community. Plus, you will also be part of a select group who can say you’ve hiked with a Sister!
God Bless,
Fr. Todd
