Many blessings to our Dads this Father's Day. I thought of this verse from the 5th Chapter of John that provides insight into this day. There Jesus had healed a crippled man on the Sabbath. Afterwards, Jesus is accused, correctly by the way, of making God His Father. John 5:19: Jesus answered and said to them, "Amen, amen I say to you, a son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees his father doing; for what he does, his son will do also."

I want to thank the Holy Family Library (run by Douglas and Wren Spangler) and Dominic Kryst, a Field Agent from the Knights of Columbus for donating the book– The

Eucharistic Miracles of the World for our parishioners. The first batch went very quickly and they generously have provided more copies. Please take one – they are a treasure to help us understand how Jesus is present to us in the Eucharist. You may have heard about Blessed Carlo Acutis, a young Italian teen, who died when he was 15. He had a great love for the Eucharist and computers. He combined those loves together to make a website dedicated to documenting all the Eucharistic miracles throughout the world, much like this book does. He referred to the Eucharist as his highway to Heaven, and that it was his life’s purpose to always be united to God. He recently had another miracle attributed to his intercession and he will be canonized in the coming year. A common question people ask is what those miracles are like that are used as evidence of a person’s sanctity and presence with God in Heaven. Here is the miracle attributed to his intercession from Heaven:

“On July 8, 2022, Liliana prayed at Blessed Carlo’s tomb in Assisi, leaving a letter describing her plea. Six days earlier, on July 2, her daughter Valeria had fallen from her bicycle in Florence, where she was attending university. She had suffered severe head trauma, and required craniotomy surgery and the removal of the right occipital bone to reduce pressure on her brain, with what her doctors said was a very low chance of survival. Liliana’s secretary began praying immediately to Blessed Carlo Acutis, and on July 8, Liliana made her pilgrimage to his tomb in Assisi. That same day, the hospital informed her that Valeria had begun to breathe spontaneously. The next day, she began to move and partially regain her speech. On July 18, a CAT scan proved that her hemorrhage had disappeared, and on August 11, Valeria was moved to rehabilitation therapy. She made quick progress, and on September 2, Valeria and Liliana made another pilgrimage to Assisi to thank Blessed Carlo for his intercession.”

As you may have read in this month’s Faith Magazine, the Diocese is moving forward with the Saints and Scholars campaign for Catholic Schools. Our parishes are in the first wave – (this August-December). More details to come later this summer but let me know you are interested in helping during the campaign in some way.

I want to thank the family of Richard and Betty Camp who in their honor and memory are helping us upgrade the sound system at Sacred Heart Church. This upgrade will replace the controls for the system which will have a much greater capability to even out the sound from our speakers – i.e., having a consistent decibel level of sound throughout the Church space. We expect the components to be installed in July.

I also want to thank all of the volunteers who put a lot of time and effort in making the St. Mary on the Lake Rummage sale a success. I also want to thank the people who donated their trucks and trailers who helped drive the remaining items to their destination after the sale.

God Bless,

Fr. Todd
