Miss Jessica Dehn

My name is Jessica Dehn and I have been the lead preschool teacher at Sacred Heart School for 7 years. I am a graduate of Hillsdale High School and Siena Heights University. I teach from the heart and I believe learning should be fun and hands-on. I love what I do and I love all of my students.

My preschool is a fun and nurturing environment where we not only learn the ABC’s and 123’s, but we also learn how to to be a clear image of God. The students show this through how they act, what they say, and what they do.

Mrs. Tricia Houser

My name is Tricia Houser. I was born and raised in Holt, MI. When I graduated from high school I attended LCC for nursing. During this time, I met my husband Mark. He is a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church and I started attending weekly Mass with him in 2000. God has blessed us with four wonderful children. All of my children began their schooling at Sacred Heart preschool at 3 years old. We have been a part of the Sacred Heart family for 10 years with my oldest two children moving on to Hudson schools and the younger two still attended.

In 2013, I was offered the job as an aid in the preschool. This, by far, has been one of the most rewarding opportunities of my life.

Mrs. Karen Downing

I am a longtime resident of Hudson. This past June I joined the staff at Sacred Heart in the preschool program. I have personally found these little ones are loving and readily engaged. Our classes are warm and welcoming. The faith-based program for our three, four and five-year-old boys and girls strengthens skills socially and emotionally. This, combined with a structured academic environment, gives parents a wonderful place for their children to begin the journey of learning.

Classroom Culture

Religion is part of our daily morning work. The children gain an awesome foundation of the Catholic faith. We focus on learning letters and numbers, colors, patterns, but most importantly the children are learning obedience, honesty, patience, kindness and many other virtues. The children grow so much each year.

Our class is deeply centered around God. We start the morning with schoolwide prayer where our little 3 and 4 year olds have the opportunity to share some heartfelt prayers with the entire school and staff.

Bucket Filling

Our classroom is a positive learning environment that we call Bucket Filling. We start the year with a bucket filling book. In the book, the children learn that doing nas saying nice things makes you and others feel good. So, they are rewarded with a Filling your bucket sticker. Once they reach our magic number of stickers, the student receives a prize, and the process of filling your bucket continues.

Bucket Dipping

The children are also taught that while we all want to be bucket fillers, we are not perfect, and sometimes we might say or do something to hurt others. We call this bucket dipping. The student must then take a sticker out of the bucket and apologize to the person they hurt. We want to make everyone in the class feel the love of God and love each other.
